Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Gas mileage, Exterior Design, Tons of options, Decent performance, Price.
Cons: Interior quality, Shifter, Annoying blind spots, Better equipped xB only about 500 bucks more.
The Bottom Line: The xD is a great alternative to the somewhat gas hoggish xB. The xD is stylish, comfy, and offers an affordable base price.

To help Americans forget about the not-so-cool xA, Toyota has completely changed the name (or the letter) of its entry-level compact for the youth oriented Scion brand: now titled xD. The xD competes against the mass of compact econo-hatches on the ...

Economy, Value Mark xD As The Sensible Scion.

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Low price, high mileage, clever interior accessories, relatively roomy back seat.
Cons: Bar-stool driving position, contrived gauges, high beltline and dark plastics sink cabin mood.
The Bottom Line: The xD isn't as fun to drive as Honda's Fit, nor as roomy as Nissan's Versa, but it's trendier and more feature-laden than either. One of the better subcompacts.

Background No one was quite sure what would become of Toyota’s U.S.-only, semi-experimental Scion brand when it was launched in 2004. Toyota, for its part, expected the jellybean-like xA to be the volume seller of the line, envisioning the ...

Easy to Underestimate this Stylish Deviant

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: More powerful engine, tons of standard features, easy to drive, stylish, pure pricing, availability
Cons: Black interior only; load floor isn't "flat"; smaller than competitor's cargo areas.
The Bottom Line: This little hatchback will turns many heads because of the cool and new styling. For the amount of standard features, this is a great choice.

Disclosure: After dreaming of a new car for 2 years, wanting a new car for 1 year and needing a car for 6 weeks, I finally decided on a model and drove it off the lot only just yesterday. I researched many models, focusing on compact or subcompact ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Safety, price, features, Reliability, Power, Height from road. Has more ground clearance than other hatchbacks.
Cons: No center consol. Headlights don't turn on automatically. Would have LOVED all-wheel-drive option!!!!!!
The Bottom Line: Toyota built, so it will run for years. Roomy inside despite how small it looks. Sits higher than sedans yet lower than SUV's. Sporty look and feel, great gas mileage.

After totaling my beloved Toyota Corolla I had to find a new vehicle. After MUCH research I decided on a new Scion XD. Why? 1- LOW INTEREST RATES. Interest rates on new cars are LOWER than used cars. I could get this car for the same monthly ...

The much-anticipated mix of SUV/Sedan/Wagon is finally here!

Pros: Gas mileage, interior room, body styling, body height off the ground, cool standard features.
Cons: No center console/arm rests despite plenty of storage compartments.
My boyfriend just bought this car and we take it everywhere. I have a 2008 Civic Coupe and love it, but always complain about the lack of interior space...

Unlike the XB, which I hate with a passion, the XD comes high off the ground with strong suspension and 4-wheel drive, and easily clears all curbs and sidewalks, while all XB's get constantly more damaged by your everyday speed bump due to their low, low, low body design.

The way I look at it, Scion has solved a major dilemma for all of us. People want the sporty car but its bad on gas mileage and really tiny, or want the power of an SUV but not the awkwardly large size and over-maintenance, or want the everyday Sedan for its practicality without its ordinary, boring frame. Well, all people from all these categories will be satisfied with the Scion XD.

The coolness of a sports car, the gas mileage of your typical Corolla, and the sturdiness and room of an SUV!

THANK YOU SCION!
