I found this amazing website called Stereofame.com that I've been a member of for a few months now and I wanted to tell everyone about it. The Epinions.com people don't think it is commercial enough to get an entry where I can write a review so I thought I'd write about it here (per their suggestions.)



If you're a lover of music, or better yet if you are a musician yourself, Stereofame is sort of like "Fantasy Football" for music lovers.



The site is TOTALLY FREE though they are going to implement some paid options (but don't be scared off by this. I'll explain later.)



When you sign up you have to choose whether you are an artist or a label. To be an artist you really must have recorded music, and something fairly decent - not just you doing karaoke into your computer microphone. Again, it is TOTALLY free and in fact it is SPAM free - I have never received one single spam or advertising email from them ever.



If you sign up as an artist you design an artist page - think of it as a mini version of MySpace. You can upload photos, a bio, a video clip, and up to 5 of your songs. (This is where paying comes in - in the near future you will be able to pay to upload more than 5 songs.)



This is where the fun starts! Other people who have signed up as LABELS can 'sign you' to their record label, much in the way you pick your team in fantasy football. You then start to rack up points for basically EVERYTHING you do on the site - from the most basic task (reading a site email is worth 1 point) to bigger things (every time someone downloads one of your songs you get 50 points.)



As these points add up you can start participating in the auctions section. Use your points like cash and bid on prizes ebay style - from the cheesy (a $5 McDonalds gift card) to the major (A $2000 laptop.)



If you choose to sign up as a "label" the process is the same only opposite. Sign your artists discreetly, download music and share in the points your artists rack up. Then you have your OWN section of prizes to bid on with your points (so that artists don't have to compete with labels and vice-versa.)



Since signing up I have won around $500 worth of prizes and I haven't spent a penny. and since I love music, it's been a ton of fun! I've won 2 iPod shuffles, several t-shirts, about $300 in gift certificates...all while discovering new music that I love!



So I hope you'll come check it out. If this came off as spammy, it wasn't - I typed it all just for my Epinions peeps :) But I will say this - if you sign up, it'd be nice if you use my direct link because I get a few bonus points. And then come back and download my songs!
