What category is this??

Ok there are some things that are listed one place but show up in another for example some bag type things are in travel but come up in electronics or vice versa.

Where do parks fall? Either state or National. They are listed I believe in both outdoor and travel. I just answered my own question. Since I am an advisor in Outdoor then I should have a most helpful button and I don't
So those reviews are in travel. The reason I am asking is because if they counted toward OUR category then I would review them but since they don't I'll skip it. Am I making sense and am I correct? jo (My mom is visiting so I might start being a bit disoriented since it might be catchy.)

RE: What category is this??

As far as I know the parks have always shown up under outdoors, but when you go to the specific topic for a park, you can tell htat it's actually in hotels and travel. The only 'destinations' that seem to be in outdoors are the scuba diving destinations.

Now if someone could get campgrounds and trails up, that would be really cool...

Jeff I've been

asking for campgrounds for so long and the reality is people are looking for that information so it is too bad they haven't done that yet. I'd go crazy though - we stayed at 32 last summer:) I'm not even sure this summer - maybe 7 or 8. jo

RE: Jeff I've been

The few reviews I've been able to do about a hiking destination (like a waterfall, a certain wilderness area or park) have all done really well. People out there are searching google for this kind of information - if Epinions would add categories for it for us to review, I think it would be quite a popular destination.

People want to know what to expect on a hike, at a destination or at a campground before they go. I know I hate picking campgrounds without any idea of what I'm going to find when I get there beyond the pretty description in the campground book.

Jo - last I knew, the leads in Hotels and Travel are now willing to add state run campgrounds, but not private ones. They added a few of the state campgrounds in the Catskills of NY last fall and I was able to review them. Be worth checking it out for you if you've stayed at the state/federal campgrounds in your travels.

Thanks - I think

the deal with state is the same as with National. If you write one in the State Park area (and I assume they must be state parks I can't imagine what other kind of campground it is) you can choose what aspect of the Park you are reviewing from a drop down menu. One of the aspects is camping so there has been that option. Until we can dry camp we can't camp in State Parks though but we are working on the ability to do so. Again thanks - I will push to dry camp so I can review the campground in the State Park. jo

As far as I know - the Leads are actually willing to add the Campground itself in a state park. For example, this campground is located in the Catskill State Park but is one of like 6 state run campgrounds in the Catskills. The Leads are willing to add each of those campgrounds as separate topics in their own right.

I believe the same goes for Federal campgrounds located in the National Parks/Forests - we can now have just the campground added.

Check with the Leads, but last time I asked, this is okay to do now.

Great now we just have to buy a $2000 Honda generator so we can dry camp (since we camp in luxury:) Maybe someday campgrounds - privately owned- will be viewed as a hotel especially with us baby boomers coming of age. jo

Keep asking - they changed the standards on the State & Federal campgrounds, so you never know.

In the meantime, a generator could always come in handy - heck, if you lose power at home you could even use it.
