Writing reviews?

Someone please help. I enjoy reading and sometimes writing reviews on trusted outdoor equipment, but it seems lately that this is becoming almost immposible. Everytime I try, I am bombarded by store ads, store reveiws, etc. I can't even seem to find a link anymore to write reviews at all. Am I completely doing something wrong, or is the site just not as user friendly as it use to be? For example, just type in "Mountain Hardwear" into the search box. You'll be taken to several pages of store adds. NOWHERE can somebody actually read or write a review off these pages. This is frustrating. What am I doing wrong?

RE: Writing reviews?

You aren't doing anything wrong. It's our search engine. It's horrible; epinions knows and has been trying to make it user friendly. Most of us use Google to find things on epinions. For example - staying in this category - if I wanted to write about my Zoid pack rather than even typing anything into the search engine, I'll type in epinions, Zoid pack and up it will come if it is in the data base.

You can't just type in a general topic under the best of circumstances. Many times typing in the EXACT name of the product will do the trick. But I was looking to see if a beer was listed and typed it in exactly - no luck. I googled it and there it was on epinions. Hope this helps. Don't give up. Would it be ok if I posted this on the general message board? jo

Searching for Topics - Mountain Hardware locations and search ideas

Jo's right - it's our search engine, it's not that great. I usually use google and search for whatever I am looking for plus "epinions" (in the quotes) so that google pulls up pages that have "epinions" in them and the product - it usually does a good job of finding just about everything on the site.

Another option is to go through the drill down lists by starting here in the Outdoor Gear section and then going down through the various categories to find what you want. It can be time consuming and doesn't always find everything, but it's good if you are just browsing and want to see lots of options.

Hope this helps.

Jeff

Oh, to find all the apparel from Mountain Hardware here on Epinions, go here. Sleeping bags are here, and tents are here.

If the product is on Epinions and you find it - just click on the link that says "Write a Review."

If the product isn't in the database, then you'll need to email the category lead, who in this case is Openroad. Send him an email with the information on the product he asks for on his profile and he should be able to add it for you. When he does, he'll email you the link to write your review.
