Biggest secrets

Sometimes a car is much better than the general public thinks it is. I thought my previous car, a 1996 Ford Contour SE with DOHC V6 and five-speed, was such a car.

What cars currently suffer from such secrecy, and why should the general public give them more respect?

Update: I guess I should follow my own recommendation and explain why the Contour deserved more respect. It combined a wonderful V6 with a tight structure and the best handling I've ever experienced in a domestic sedan. But Ford tried to mass market the car rather than narrowly target enthusiasts, and a busy ride and tight rear seat was not the general public's cup of tea.

RE: Biggest secrets

Subaru Baja. Sure, it looks funny but dealers are practically giving them away. I was car shopping last night and was surprised at how low Bajas are, particularly considering how well appointed they are.

Corolla

The "lowly" 2009 Toyota Corolla. I think a lot of people forgot about this car, since it's been around for a long time. The new one is surprisingly comfortable, quiet, and smooth. It's almost luxurious if it weren't for the plastic interior. Very spacious as well, even in the back seat. The glove compartment is huge! And the 6-disc CD changer also plays MP3s and WMAs, so you'll never run out of music. I must say, I didn't expect a Corolla to be like this, and still get 35 MPG.
