Every year the libraries, thanks to the National Endowment for the Arts, participates in the Big Read. I've seen this list for this year. Do you know what your community is doing? I would vote for All Quiet on the Western Front. It should be required reading for any society at war or thinking of going to war, which is just about all of them.
