American Idol
Hope I'm not off topic here, but does anyone know when the next season of American Idol will be starting? I've been checking the website, but haven't found any definitive answers by going there. If anyone knows I sure would appreciate finding out.
Thank You!
Savanna :) |

RE: American Idol
Have they even done the auditions yet? I guess they would've had to.
They haven't even released Fantasia's or Diana's albums yet. |

RE: American Idol
The auditions have been completed, but I guess they've opted not to show them on TV this year. Didn't they show auditions in October last year?
Oh well, guess we'll have to wait till Jan. |

Re: AI
I don't think they did anything in October, except maybe a one-off retrospective show. Generally, FOX is too busy with the World Series in October to bother starting any new stuff. They had that World Idol deal over New Year's (attaway Norway!), and the real show started in late January, auditions and all. |

Yep, all that audition stuff was like the first month of the show early this year.

Well, since I blogged the entire season for some friends who couldn't watch the show, you'd think that I'd remember a lot more. I would have to say when Fantasia did Summertime the first time. I was blown away.

Re: AI
Last season bored me a little...I honestly couldn't have cared less who won by the end. George Huff I would have enjoyed. I think the highlight was seeing so many shots of my hometown when John Stevens was still around. Yeah Williamsville!
I think it'd be better if the judges (and, I suppose, public) did a slightly better job of weeding out the talentless hacks...too many weeks last season felt like a wait to get rid of the next tuneless buffoon. That sort of takes away from it a bit, I think. |

John Stevens...
It never ceased to amaze me how long Stevens lasted last season. He was so clearly out of his league, even among the worst of the singers. To my mind, he was no more talented than William Hung, and Hung, at least, seemed to have some kind of marketable personality. Not like I'd buy a CD by either of them...
I did really come to like Fantasia a lot, and I'm glad she won, but it's not like I'm waiting with baited breath for her CD either. In fact, I'd sort of forgotten about her. Doesn't bode well for her career, does it?

RE: John Stevens...
Fantasia doing Summertime was awesome! Actually brought tears to my eyes. John Stevens on the other hand was definitely out of his league. He kind of grew on me after awhile, but some of the talent that was voted off while he continued to sing week after week just blew my mind.

I think you're exactly right. The personalities just weren't all that interesting.
Huff was my favorite, but it wasn't because of his personality. I thought he had the best singing voice, but oh well. He does have some sort of Christmas album out I think.

RE: AI
I agree that Huff had a great voice and it seemed to get better each week. He had a great attitude, too, that really added to the whole package. And what a smile:) |

George Huff
George Huff had very big teeth.
And he sang the hell out of "Take Me To The Pilot", and for that I will love him, always.

Not only big. But bad teeth. I hope he can use some of the money he will make and fix them.

William Hung
Is great! No, just kidding. I actually used him once to drive twenty people out of the electronics section at Wal-Mart. Just stuck in his CD and watched it play on all the televisions in the back, as people plugged their ears and shrieked and ran to another section.
Ah, the joys of having the electronics section all to yourself.

RE: William Hung
He's got a Christmas CD out too! I think you could actually start a life-threatening stampede with that baby if you were to play it on, say, the day after Christmas.
