Pros: Excellent for hauling lots of stuff including the family. Cons: No trunk, no standard child safety locks, and no side door air bags. The Bottom Line: The 2005 Chevrolet Silverado is true to the new, chic wave of big family trucks. It's got the juice and 4X4 power for wet and dry roads.
As practical as the warning is against living above your means sometimes having a third vehicle in the driveway can be a real treat. We recently rented the 2005 Silverado Half-Ton Crew Cab Z71 for seven days and seven nights enjoying all the power ...

Pros: Quiet, powerful diesel engine, luxury interior, excellent fit and finish. Cons: Smokes on hard acceleration due to turbo lag, turbocharger design, High cost of diesel fuel. The Bottom Line: I recommend this truck. I'm not a professional driver, but I know quality when I see it.
I purchased the 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4X4 with the Duramax Diesel (built by Izuzu) in October 2004. The truck has a standard cab with 8' box.
The truck has the LS package with Allison automatic transmission, cloth power bucket seats, ...

Pros: V8 HP and noticeable quietness of running engine Cons: Fuel economy and lack of room behind seats The Bottom Line: Good truck for the money. Better power than other's in class. Stick with small V8 over V6 for better fuel economy.
Overall this truck is just what a person would be looking for. My dad owns a 2004 GMC Sierra with a 4.3L V6, work truck package, pretty much the base model. This truck is the same but the Chevrolet line with a few extras. This has the 4.8L V8 motor ...

Pros: Power, smoothness of the Allison transmission, brakes do their job well. Cons: Poor economy, mirrors, seats, traction, doorlocks, heater, dealer amnesia, etc. The Bottom Line: If one can put up with the forementioned problems including poor fuel economy, buy it. If not, don't.
Purchased summer of 2005 during the super sale. Has all options other than leather. This one has the four doors and short bed. Plenty of power. Fuel economy is poor with average of 14 mpg and with 3000 miles it hasn't improved. Seats are the ...

I have been looking for a new truck to replace the 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 2 Wheel Drive 1500 with 4.3 V6 which the lease was coming up on. Since I was satisfied with the last Silverado I started my search there and first looked at a Siverado HD 2500 ...

Pros: good highway mileage, very comfortable, roomy enough for 6 including 2 car seats Cons: bad 4 wheel drive sensor, bad city mileage The Bottom Line: My 6'4" father has sat in the back seat and was only mildly cramped. Good truck. Buy one.
I down-graded from my F-350 quad cab long bed to this truck, mostly because of gas mileage. My old truck was just too expensive to drive, especially since it's 2 1/2 hours to go to the nearest town of much size (which I do about every 6 weeks). We ...

Pros: plenty of room to shake in. looks good in the driveway. Cons: health hazard to ride in for more than 20 miles. forget litening to good music. The Bottom Line: Stay away from this truck. GM too. Ask to see Doc ID # 1575165 dated Dec. 3, 2004
I have had this 2005 Crew Cad 1500 for 4 months. I have complained to GM about the jerky ride, the gurgle in the AC and the spongy brakes. GM said that is normal for their truck. When I test drove the truck I mentioned the shake and was told it was ...

Pros: POWER, COMFORT, DRIVES LIKE A CAR NOT A HEAVY DUTY TRUCK Cons: POOR DESIGN ON MIRRORS CHEVY FIXED ON 2006 AND WILL UPGRADE YOU The Bottom Line: I would recomend this to anyone considering a truck for hauling it is awesome!
In January of 2005 we got the bad news that our 97 ford f-350 power stroke diesel was losing compression. Economically it made more sense to buy new than to rebuild this one(having 340,000 miles on truck). I have had 7 trucks 4 fords and 3 chevys. After ...

Pros: Excellent gas mileage - excellent resale / trade in value Cons: 5.5' bed - steering column problem on ALL Silverados for last 4 or 5 years The Bottom Line: Great truck - last 2 Chevy trucks were far superior to any other trucks I had owned previously
I had a 2004 regular cab Silverado with 18000 miles and went to the dealer for an oil change in February 2005. While the '04 was being serviced I noticed some '05 crew cabs in the back lot worth $19,990 prices on the windshields. I asked my salesman what ...

Pros: Value, best blend of performance, features, looks, ruggedness. A real truck. Cons: Hope it's as reliable as my old Toyota.
I'm replacing my 10 year old Toyota Truck with a bigger Chevy; this is my first American nameplate! So far, so good. The V8 engine is smooth and efficient, actually having the best gas mileage of all the trucks I compared. Looked at all the others and Chevy has the best blend of size, features, and price. I could not beat the price with GM Employee Discount, rebate, and my GM card. Ford truck was very good but too big and gas mileage was worse. Toyota too expensive. Did not like Dodge's interior and worst-of-the- pack gas mileage.

Pros: Great all around 4x4 truck Cons: Fuel prices for the big V-8
Purchased the 1500 4x4 Extended Cab Dec-04, have had it now for a few months. Was really impressed with the 5300 V-8, can't tell the difference when the beds loaded or empty. Excellent cab features, as if someone who actually drives this stuff got to engineer this truck. Haven't found anything yet in or on the truck with wonderment of why they didn't do something different. Even received a call from a person who works on the assembly line, wanted to know how we liked our truck, and if it was living up to all of our expectations!! Can't beat that.

Pros: Comfortable, easily controlled. Cons: Gasoline thirsty V8
This is the ultimate truck. The 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 1500. This is an excellent machine. I have driven lots of vehicles and this is my favorite one to date. It has amazing power and torque. This(in my opinion)is probably the most powerful truck in it's class. I love the ride because it is so smooth and easy to relax in. It has the patented Chevrolet interior with the buttons and whistles extremely easy to get to. The push button four-wheel drive is excellent. This truck is definitely the way to go. I have not found anything bad about this truck and if I had to say something bad about it for review purposes it would the the fuel inhaling V8. But, that is standard territory for all V8's.

Pros: smooth ride, lots of power, lots of room, best purchase I ever made Cons: had brake rotors replaced @ 24K miles -- otherwise solid as a rock
I've been so pleased with the performance of my Z71 Chevy 4x4 truck. It's the first brand new vehicle I've ever owned, and I couldn't be happier with the choice I made. I love driving it -- has lots of power, is extremely comfortable and the Bose sound system ROCKS! One of the things I really love about it is that even though it's a truck, it still rides like a car (even after 3 years of use). I use it for everything from running errands and driving to work, to hauling hay and pulling our horse trailer. It does double duty as our "farm truck" and our family vehicle. It averages 17.5 MPG, which I'm happy with considering the amount of city driving and hauling I do. When it comes time to trade in for a new vehicle, it will definately be another Chevy truck, although I may go to the 2500 this time since I bought a considerably larger horse trailer.

Pros: Good Power, Roomy Front and Rear Cons: Stock Tires are small small small
Have owned (well the bank owns, they just let me drive it) for 12K miles, and as this is my fourth Chevy truck. Mine is a 2500 with the 6.0 X-Cab, short bed. Did add a Hypertech Supertunner to try to get the most of this motor and improve gas mileage. I tow a midsize horse trailer and also a 5 ton dump trailer (fully loaded). Living in the Ohio Valley there are many large hills and so far this truck has had ample power. I average around 12-14 Mpg, a little less with the trailers. Love the upgrade of the forth door, my 02 only had a third. This door makes getting people and cargo in and out of the back seat an ease. Would like to see child restraints for car seats added as a standard. Hope to get many more miles out of this work horse.

Pros: Not a loud diesel. Cons: Took it in to our dealer 4+ times for the same thing.
looks nice, i have the work truck no problems with exterior, interior design. i have had no problems with the windows.
truck rides rough, we have a duramax diesel (its not loud).
here is a list of things (to keep in mind, as a possible for you )that we had to take repeated time to get fixed,
the heater broke during winter, it wouldnt turn on. they said they fixed it- yet it didnt work couples days later.
anthoer- we have took it in 3 times becuase it doesnt like to go in to gear a lot. We haved call GM alot it seems.
since last time we got it fixed it hasnt done it YET.
you would think that the dealership and Gm would treat us better as a customer and buying 4 new trucks in the last year.
